Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Metrohm USA is a scientific instrument company that markets products to a wide range of industries and professionals. The Marketing Communications Specialist (MCS) is an integral part of the Marketing Communications Team and supports the marketing strategic plan by working with technical resources to extract relevant information and customer messages to create and promote engaging content. This includes bringing the strategic plan to life by managing both the internal and external email and microsite programs.

This role has a direct impact on our customer engagement and requires:

  • an understanding of basic scientific principles that facilitates the creation of marketing content for the analytical chemistry market
  • the ability to shape that content into an engaging message
  • project management proficiency to run multiple projects simultaneously and make the appropriate adjustments.

A successful candidate will be skilled at managing projects independently, be detail-oriented, organized and self-driven. You should be a strong verbal and written communicator with the ability to extract relevant information from multiple technical contributors to create a consistent editorial voice.

Email Marketing

As part of the Marketing Communications Team, the MCS will collaborate with product leaders to create content that effectively communicates marketing messages and calls-to-action through our email program. This includes bringing product and application content to life by working with technical contributors to identify key messages that communicate the value our products bring to our customers.

The MCS manages an editorial calendar of both internal and external email campaigns to drive engagement.

As a main resources for releasing content, the CMS edits and proofreads all content for overall applicability, consistency and grammatical and stylistic errors.

Marketing Automation

The MCS utilizes the HubSpot marketing automation platform to nurture leads through a predictable pathway from brand awareness to demand generation and eventual purchase intent. This includes creating, monitoring and adjusting workflows to automate engagement points. This engagement is accomplished through landing pages for gated content and requires the appropriate metrics to track success and adjust the approach.

Microsite Program

In addition to our corporate website, which is driven by our headquarters in Switzerland, Metrohm USA uses wordpress to create microsites that serve a targeted audience. The MCS will work in wordpress to organize marketing content and visual elements in a way that creates compelling and engaging microsites. The CMS develops the creative elements necessary to present content that increases engagement and promotes these sites. Implementation of meta information to achieve organic search result rankings is also required.

Webinar Program

The MCS manages Metrohm USA’s annual webinar program of 20-25 events from planning through execution and follow-up. He/she works with external publication vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure successful promotion, smooth execution and effective follow-up of each event to maximize impact.

Minimum Background and Education Requirements:

EDUCATION: BS Degree in Marketing, Communications, or similar areas required. A natural curiosity about science and chemistry that facilities a desire to work with technical content and communicate it broadly.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a generalist marketing role, with proven ability to manage projects and generate compelling content. A writing sample will be part of the interview process. Prior experience with marketing automation (ideally HubSpot) and wordpress is strongly preferred.
