Summary
Reporting to the US Medical Affairs (USMA) Team Lead for Abrocitinib within a Pfizer headquarters location, the Medical Director will contribute to the planning and execution of medical strategies and tactics for Pfizer’s dermatology franchise. The Director will be an integral member of the US Medical Affairs-Dermatology team, as a part of US Specialty Care supporting current in-line assets, as well as pipeline assets depending on business needs and priorities. The Director will also provide Pfizer brand teams with customer and clinical insights to assist in informing Pfizer strategies on critical health issues and facilitate the development of customer-focused tools and medical communications to support patient access to quality medicines.
The Director will develop long-term relationships with a wide variety of key healthcare stakeholders and customers, including professional organizations, patient societies, and key opinion leaders to demonstrate clinical and economic value of our assets. These activities are implemented to help inform HCPs and formulary decision-makers through medical presentations, pharmacoeconomic analyses, and outcomes evaluations along with the Organized Customer Group and Field Medical colleagues. Additional customer collaborations are built with the goal of aligning corporate medical priorities with the specific needs of the customer to advance the quality of patient care in areas of mutual interest, to identify provider and/or patient knowledge gaps, and areas for quality improvement interventions. The Director will develop, in conjunction with Medical team colleagues, an advanced perspective of the evolving clinical and healthcare landscape within Dermatology.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in reviewing & approving promotional and nonpromotional materials ensuring fair balance
- Collaborate with cross functional constituents from Commercial, Organized Customer, Field Medical, HEOR and relevant internal stakeholders to drive US strategic direction for brand
- Ability to plan and lead successful advisory boards, congress-related symposia & congress planning
- Ability to contribute to Publication planning, data generation activities and other medical/scientific activities related to informing HCPs on appropriate use of Pfizer medicines
- Serve as a reliable, trusted source of accurate and scientific knowledge for the data, disease state, product label and competitive data sets for clinical trials
- Participate in developing and maintaining HCP engagement plans for HQ Medical Affairs
- Congress support in collaboration with NAMA dermatology colleagues
- Support internal data interpretation and alignment activities
- Support evidence dissemination and education activities including scientific publications and scientific exchange
- Support internal medical training curriculum in collaboration with the I&I medical affairs capabilities group
- Work with marketing and training group on appropriate timelines and expectations for Sales Training. Support training needs through partnership in developing materials and provide expert medical presentations and education. Support development of training modules
- Partner with MI colleagues to provide expert input into Medical Letters and ensure updates as needed
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Terminal doctorate (eg. PhD, PharmD, DVM, etc.) professional degrees with 6+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, clinical/medical practice, or combination of these; Masters with 8+ years; Bachelors with 10+ years
- Relationship builder within and outside of Pfizer
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Team oriented for success
- Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Dermatology
- Experience in Medical Affairs
- Experience or understanding of clinical and drug development or Phase IV/IIR trial management a plus
- Proven ability to facilitate open discussion and debate among key stakeholders and build internal and external relationships
- Well-organized with the ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands, and effectively lead in a matrix organization
- Creativity, resourcefulness, high energy and flexibility
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel up to 25%
