Director of Information Technology
The Straz Center is hiring a Director of Information Technology
Summary
The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, security, and recovery of the organization’s information technology infrastructure, including workstations, servers, networks, and phone systems. This position also provides team participation, leadership, supervision, and direction for a portion of the technology group and serves as second in charge to the Vice President of Information Technology.
Located in downtown Tampa, the Straz offers a team-based work environment and a full package of benefits for full-time staff including options for health/dental, vision, etc., plus a generous 403(b) plan.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees all infrastructure technology operations and evaluates them according to established goals.
- Establishes IT Policies and processes to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management.
- Works with VP of Administration to prepare the yearly IT budget and review the periodic financial statements.
- Assists in building relationships with vendors, negotiating costs and controlling expenditures.
- Escalates vendor specific issues to vendor support and facilitates the remediation of the issue.
- Communicates information effectively to the staff, project managers, vendors, consultants, and clients.
- Coordinates with peers within the department to accomplish projects.
- Provides project management for technology-initiated activities.
- Manages and supervises direct reports ensuring projects are completed within the guidelines and timeframes.
- Manages the organizations helpdesk and ensures SLA metrics are achieved.
- Ensures the organization’s data security policies and procedures are followed.
- Implements new data security measures with the ever-evolving threat landscape.
- Direct and support implementation of software and hardware upgrades.
- Assists with departmental and organizational Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning.
- Works to support the Vice President of Administration with delivering the vision for the IT Department.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for hiring, training, supervising, disciplining, and evaluating the following positions:
- IT Manager – Systems
- IT Manager – Data
Other:
- Participates in departmental staff meetings, Data Security Incident Response Team, and as needed in Incident/Security Team.
- Keeps current and maintains knowledge of the latest technologies with respect to the performing arts business.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- In-depth knowledge of IT hardware and software sufficient to design state-of-the-art solutions to business requirements and quickly resolve problems.
- In-depth working knowledge of the Microsoft Operating systems and the various Microsoft server applications including Server Roles, Exchange, SharePoint, and SQL.
- Experience in maintaining a virtual server environment with VMware ESX server and/or V-Sphere.
- Experience with cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS.
- Experience with a variety of network infrastructure hardware including SonicWALL and Cisco.
- Experience with supporting 100+ workstations.
- Trouble-shooting skills and deductive reasoning sufficient to gather relevant symptoms, deduce probable cause, research information sources, as necessary, and resolve the problem in the minimum amount of time.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills to foster relationships with the staff.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees within the organization as well as strategic vendors and business partners outside of the organization.
- Ability to meet deadlines and provide information in a timely manner.
- Ability to handle many projects simultaneously and demonstrate good judgment and maturity in decision making.
- Experience managing technical staff members.
- Experience preparing and managing yearly budgets.
- Available for on-call and after-hours support, as needed.
Education and Work Experience:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Six (6) or more years’ experience in the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of a complex IT infrastructure.
- MCSE, CISSP, MCITP, MCTS, and CCNA certifications preferred, but not required.
