Tammy Charles is the Community Engagement director at Frameworks of Tampa Bay, a not‐for‐profit organization whose mission is to teach youth to manage their emotions, develop healthy relationships, and make good decisions for academic, career and personal success. Her calling to serve underprivileged communities in Tampa Bay came from a trip that she took 6 years ago to Haiti, just one year after the earthquake. Seeing abject poverty with her own eyes sparked the desire to help make a difference in the lives of those in need.
That came in the form of the Frameworks program, and her efforts spread rapidly across Tampa. Five years ago, Frameworks served 500 students in Tampa. Now, Framework’s programs can be found in all Hillsborough County middle schools and serves 51,000 children across Tampa Bay. Apart from her work with Frameworks, Charles is a driving force in Tampa Bay’s entrepreneurial and business community, seeking out and even leading groups of like-minded entrepreneurs. Her passion and ambitions for herself reflect her passions for the Tampa Bay Community—the hometown that she continues to serve.
