As our Director, Corporate Accounting you will provide strategic leadership for the analysis, accounting, reporting and internal controls for Mosaic’s North America, Corporate and certain global businesses. In this role you will have global responsibility for Mosaic’s Asset Retirement Obligations (ARO) and all other North America and Corporate accounting activity and analysis, lead the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close in partnership with the North America Shared Services accounting team, and direct certain quarterly balance sheet and income statement analysis. Provide leadership for analysis, planning and forecasting and reporting of reserves, land acquisitions and depreciation/depletion impacts, including PP&E and depreciation and depletion accounting impacts on plant operating scenarios for the business.
Provide analysis of depreciation/depletion activity for senior leadership and business as requested.
Partner with North America Shared Services to ensure inventory activity meets company policy and U.S. GAAP requirements, which includes assessing and calculating LCM (lower of cost or market) and underutilization adjustments where necessary.
Provide global oversite over Mosaic’s Profit-In-Inventory calculations and reporting.
Provide analysis of inventory activity for senior leadership and business, understanding the impacts to COGS.
Provide leadership for the accounting, analysis, reporting and internal controls of Mosaic’s Corporate functions including stock compensation, debt, pension, derivates, other entities, trust funds and restructuring.
Provide leadership for revenue reporting, including the complex accounting and reporting for Canpotex activity.
Provide leadership of the global Mosaic lease accounting and analysis and ensure compliance with Lease Accounting Standard (Topic 842) which includes monitoring business processes to ensure compliance with Mosaic’s accounting policies and procedures.
Direct complex ARO accounting for global Mosaic and coordinate with Operations and the Law Department in the preparation and submittal of all financial responsibility requirements to various state and federal government agencies.
Direct activities with internal and external auditors, including ensuring appropriate controls compliance in SEC reporting for Phosphates and Potash business segments and managing the preparation of analyses and documentation for auditors.
Lead, develop and coach employees in order to retain and expand organizational talent through focused attention and effort.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance
10+ years of progressive accounting experience
Deep knowledge of US GAAP and SEC regulations
Demonstrated understanding and commitment to internal controls
Demonstrated people leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop employees at all levels
Demonstrated understanding and commitment to continuous improvement
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) with advanced Excel skills
Experience with SAP or another ERP system.
Ability to lead through influence and networking throughout all levels of the organization
Ability to adapt to a continually changing business and work environment and manage multiple priorities
Ability to resolve complex issues
CPA or CMA
Project Management experience
Experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm
Experience in the fertilizer or other commodity industry
