Job Description

The Benefits & Wellness Specialist will be responsible for administering all aspects of health and wellness benefits for Nextech. The ideal candidate will have experience in human resources, including benefits coordination, LOA (leave of absence) processing, and open enrollment. The Benefits & Wellness Specialist reports to the Senior Director of People & Culture.

All activities must be in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity laws, HIPAA, ERISA and other regulations, as appropriate.

Essential Functions: In addition to working in accordance with appropriate conduct and behavioral standards, specific responsibilities of this role include:


  • Conduct presentations and meetings to explain benefits to employees.
  • Assist with creation of benefits explanation materials
  • Administrate COBRA, LOAs, FMLA usage and other issues as required by our in-house regulations and legal requirements.
  • Assisting employees with enrollment in benefits programs, such as health insurance and retirement savings.
  • Resolve concerns and inquiries from employees regarding health and welfare benefits and deductions through telephone, email and in-person interactions.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and benefits vendors.
  • Build and cultivate a trusted rapport with employees, and vendors.
  • Keep all employee benefits records up to date.
  • Assist with plan setup in payroll system prior to open enrollment.
  • Facilitate and support the Open Enrollment process and associated timeline to ensure an effective and efficient process.
  • Inform employees of any changes to their benefits.
  • Assist with annual census, EEOC, CMS disclosure, and 5500 reporting.
  • Process non-discrimination test 2 times per year for health care flexible spending accounts (HFSA) and dependent day care flexible spending account (DFSA).
  • Facilitate ACA reporting with vendors

General HR:

  • Partner with other members of the People & Culture Team to assist with onboarding new hires, including organizing and running new hire orientation
  • Process Clear To Go COVID app attestation results
  • Partner with People & Culture Generalist to facilitate Wellness Committee and wellness events
  • Miscellaneous HR Administration duties as needed


Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years Benefits Administration experience
  • Knowledgeable about employee benefits and the various laws and regulations which apply to them
  • Familiarity with FMLA and various state family leaves
  • Familiarity with ADP or other HRIS platforms
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Employee Wellness experience
  • 401k administration experience
  • Presentation experience
  • PHR or SHRM certification

Working Environment:

  • Currently working remotely and in office voluntarily
  • General office environment: Works generally at a desk in a well-lighted, air-conditioned cubicle/office, with moderate noise levels.
  • Currently no travel required, may have occasional travel in the future
