What you will be doing if you are offered this position & accept:

Our IT Project Manager Sr. leads teams of information technology professionals, business partners and vendors, providing technical, professional, and personal leadership to assure the successful completion of IT&T projects.  Under general direction, s/he is responsible for all aspects of the project life cycle and will act as a single point of contact for those projects.  In addition, this person will facilitate alignment with the systems development methodology and associated processes used within the IT&T Department.

Under minimal supervision, is responsible for all aspects of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including the Program Management Office and workforce scheduling.

More specifically, the IT Project Manager Sr. will:

  • Provide leadership on IT projects (of varying size and complexity) running concurrently.  This includes project leadership, as well as technical leadership, and performing Scrum Master role.
  • Lead project teams in defining and sequencing activities, estimating tasks, and building the overall plan to achieve project objectives.
  • Communicate project information and status to all stakeholders and escalate appropriately.
  • Consult directly with resource managers to validate resource availability and allocations.
  • Develop plans and facilitate the execution of the project schedule, continually monitoring progress, identifying, and managing risks, and driving issue resolution.
  • Ensure accuracy of project charges and time reporting, report variances, and provide financial forecasts.
  • Consistently apply best practices in managing projects and demonstrate accountability for project success.
  • May provide administration of IT Project Server.
  • Support the creation and development of IT metrics.
  • Propose departmental procedures and reporting to ensure alignment with project management standards and actively facilitate the continual improvement of project management processes and tools.
  • Provide a workforce schedule and reporting for IT resources on projects.
  • May be called upon to act in a lead role, such as a Program Manager and/or Agile Coach as circumstances dictate.
  • Coordinate project-related activities of several information technology professionals and manage contract workers as required.

What you must have before you can be considered:

  • 6+ years’ experience in managing IT projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent in formal education from a regionally accredited college.
    • An equivalent combination of education & experience may be considered in lieu of college degree.  (8 years’ experience + Associates degree; 10 years’ experience + Valid high school diploma or valid GED).
  • Strong Project Management and Scrum Master skills.
  • Demonstrated sound technical knowledge in areas relating to Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile principles and Scrum, Program Management Office (PMO), and project portfolio analysis.
  • Knowledge of the Program Management Office’s concept, practices, and procedures.
  • Skills in project management tools.
  • Proficient application of IT best practices.

In addition, the following will help you stand out above the crowd:

  • Industry-level professional certification(s) (IT and/or Project Management).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Program Management Office supervisory or management experience.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience.
