MANAGER, HUMAN RESOURCES OPERATIONS

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and Talent Management, the Manager, Human Resources Operations, will play a key role in implementing Tampa Electric’s people strategy.  The successful candidate will be responsible for leading an HR Operations team focused on delivering HR services across the HR Business Partner team and to the business in support of the organizational strategy.  The Manager will work closely with the Manager, HR, HR Director, and other key stakeholders to lead and execute key HR Operations processes and initiatives to enhance the employee experience including employee relations/investigations, onboarding/offboarding, strategic workforce planning, HR compliance, talent initiatives, employee engagement, HR reporting, and provide HR solutions that support and optimize the operating objectives of the business and deliver on Tampa Electric’s strategy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Be a trusted advisor to managers and employees in all aspects of HR and Talent including employee and labor relations, talent and performance management, health and safety, employee engagement, conflict management, change management, communications, and HR facilitation.
  • Act as the program manager for employee relations/Respect in the Workplace investigations- assigning investigators and keeping HR leadership and key stakeholders apprised.
  • Align HR Operations approach with business objectives, owning and being accountable for HR results, and partnering with business to understand and support needs.
  • Execute project management leadership in support of key HR Operations processes/ talent initiatives (i.e., onboarding, offboarding, strategic workforce planning, total rewards from HRBP perspective) including effectively influencing at all levels of the organization.
  • Lead an HR Ops team (Generalist/Coordinator) by providing direction and oversight; coach and develop team/talent in the organization. Act as a catalyst for change, inspire HR to become a highly functioning team and build HR’s capabilities to deliver superior results.
  • Provide a culture for employees to speak up about their concerns through consistent application of employee policies and practices and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Champion the organization’s culture of Inclusion and Diversity and lead efforts to continue to ensure inclusion and equity in approach.
  • Lead HR’s participation in cross functional committees and councils (Challenge Teams, Employee Council, etc.).
  • Model collaborative behaviors, strong communications, and build relationships within teams to facilitate resolution of complex employee related issues.
  • Support labor activities and establish solid relationship with union (s).
  • Partner with Learning and Organizational Effectiveness to develop and implement training solutions for the modern learner; facilitate train-the-trainer sessions for HR and support facilitation needs across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent HR-related laws and regulations; act as SME for HR team partnering with legal on all HR compliance related matters.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field required, Master’s degree a plus.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR or related experience in mid/large sized organizations; previous supervisory experience preferred.  Experience implementing talent and performance management initiatives.  Previous labor relations experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving HR operational excellence with strong business acumen.
  • Ability to develop credibility and rapport with all levels of the organization; strong interpersonal and influencing skills at all levels of management.
  • Skilled facilitator capable of developing learning objectives/content in a concise way; must have experience as an effective facilitator.
  • Strong project management and change management leadership skills with proven ability/experience leading and managing large, complex projects to successful completion without a lot of oversight.
  • A natural collaborator that excels at balancing the needs of different stakeholders.
  • Superior communicator; delivers clear, concise, and influential messaging – both oral and written.
  • Proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable operating in an environment with competing priorities; with a strong aptitude for adaptability and innovative thinking.
  • Proficient in HR tech platforms; experience with SAP, SuccessFactors, Saba, is a plus.
