Channelside

Nestled between downtown, Port Tampa Bay and Ybor City, you’re within walking or biking distance from some of the best Tampa Bay has to offer. You’ll find lively bars, restaurants and coffee shops tucked in the ground floors of high-rise condos and apartments, and farther down the road in Ybor City. Many of the young professionals and their families who call this area home bike or take the Downtowner (free shuttle service hailed via an uber-like-app) to work in downtown. During the off-hours, walk to Tampa Bay Lightning hockey games at Amalie Arena. If the arena is a bit too cold for you in December, watch parties in Channelside Plaza offer cozier viewing along the waterfront.

Hyde Park

Retail shops in Hyde Park Village and gourmet eats take over the daytime. Bayshore Boulevard, a 10-foot wide, 4.5-mile continuous waterfront sidewalk, is a hotspot for spectacular city views, catching the Gasparilla Pirate Invasion parade route, jogging, walking or biking. At sunset, a date-night atmosphere and an after-party vibe take over with bars and restaurants. South Howard has the most action with its mix of casual bars for quick bites and libations and more spirited nightlife that croons with live music and bar games. One of Tampa Bay’s most famous fine dining restaurants (Bern’s Steak House) and a bygone-era speakeasy round out this eclectic neighborhood that’s a mix of old charm meets nouveau living.

Lutz

Lutz is a tranquil community located about 30 minutes north of Tampa Bay’s main business districts. Encompassing gorgeous lakes, parks and gardens, it’s a great escape. While Lutz offers many gated communities with lots of amenities, it’s far from typical suburbia. You can still experience some Old Florida living and find homes that date back to the time when orange groves dominated the landscape.

Dotted with old auto repair shops and converted gas stations, you’ll find handcrafted everything, plus plenty of mid-century modern furniture stores and bungalows that look like they belong in a Hemingway novel. New art galleries and unique food spots pop up almost daily, and it’s still affordable enough to rent or buy a three-bedroom house with a front and back yard on a starter income.

Contemporary apartment complexes sit near grand estates on the water or golf course. Davis Islands, a neighborhood on two man-made islands adjacent to downtown Tampa, is a charming older community with beautiful Mediterranean-style homes, quaint shops, a small airport and former Yankee Derek Jeter. Born as an area of expansion for the city's booming early 20th century cigar industry, West Tampa is steeped in rich history. Much of the area maintains its proud blue-collar roots, and you'll find Cuban-Americans who’ve been here for generations operating many of the shops and cafes.

Ybor City

Originally the home of Tampa Bay’s cigar factories, the Latin quarter has rebooted itself to be a city within a city. The brick buildings built to house mountains of tobacco leaves are now filled with bars, restaurants, offices and nightclubs. Seventh Avenue is known for its LGBTQ-friendly bars, dance clubs and all around joviality. Plus, there are comedy clubs, music venues, breweries and authentic Cuban eats. Plus free-roaming roosters, which have always been part of the local color of Ybor City. Treasure awaits on every balcony and around every corner.

Neighborhoods in Tampa Bay

The Tampa Bay area is made up of a collection of neighborhoods and districts, each with their own personality. From up-and-comers making a splash in the culinary scene to family-friendly waterside hideaways to entertainment centers, there’s plenty of treasures to discover. Which neighborhood would you like to make your home? Get to know Tampa Bay—you’ll like what you experience.

Riverview

Picture yourself living on a river with a boat docked outside your backyard. Surrounding you is a mix of Old Florida and new, and all at a price you can afford.

Seminole Heights

This neighborhood has some of the coolest old homes and the most creative food scene in town. Plus, it’s got a lot of quirk thanks to the modern bohemian vibe created by the artists, musicians and young families who live in this up-and-coming area.

Temple Terrace

Close to golf courses, bike paths, parks, and two theme parks, treasures await families here. What kid wouldn't want to live down the street from Busch Gardens® Tampa Bay and Adventure Island?

Tampa Heights

This National Historic District in between downtown, Seminole Heights and Ybor City is experiencing a massive revitalization. New businesses seem to be popping up every week in historic, renovated buildings from restaurants to shops and bars.

Westchase

A master-planned community about 25 minutes from downtown Tampa, Westchase has enough space for kids, dogs and both your cars. There are great neighborhoods, beautiful homes, and plenty of young families and things for them to do.

Lutz

If you have kids, one of the best ways to judge a neighborhood is by the way it celebrates Halloween. In Lutz, you’ll never have to worry about your mini Batman wandering around the streets outside your front door. You’ll quickly get to know your neighbors in this family-friendly area, which offers a host of activities for the pint-sized set year-round.

Channelside

Walk to downtown Tampa’s urban core, bike to work, decompress in a bar on the first floor of your condo or apartment complex and, when you need a change of scenery, hop on a cruise ship anchored at the port for a weekend in Cuba or the Caribbean. That’s Channelside life.

New Tampa

New Tampa is one of the fastest growing areas in Hillsborough County. If you love the idea of living in a spacious suburban home within a gated community, then this neighborhood is just the ticket.

South Tampa

One of the oldest districts in town, old willow trees, brick roads, pristine bungalows, waterfront views and a New York Yankee are its hallmarks. Surrounded by water on all sides and the MacDill Air Force Base at the southernmost end, South Tampa is made up of several smaller neighborhoods, all with easy access to downtown and waterplay.

West Tampa

While one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, West Tampa is still in the center of all the action. You’ll be close to everything (pretty much 10 minutes from everywhere you’ll want to go) and have daily access to plenty of incredible Cuban food.

Westshore

Shopaholics, pro sports fans and frequent flyers will find their bliss in Westshore. Life on the western edge of Tampa is all about convenience and finding new treasures each day.

Ybor City

Sipping a café con leche while smoking a cigar hand rolled by a third-generation master is always a great way to spend a Friday night. If Bourbon Street and Havana had a baby, it would be Ybor City. One of the most historic spots in town, and with some of the best nightlife, Ybor City has a lust for life and explodes with culture.

Downtown Tampa

With a stunning waterfront park, plenty of places to eat, drink and relax, downtown Tampa is an energetic urban center thriving with activity. Companies in top industries are also taking root here, which makes work and play next-door neighbors.

Plant City

Known as the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World, Plant City has the peaceful, country life with a side of character. Home to the world-renowned Florida Strawberry Festival, it’s not uncommon to drive around and see roadside stalls selling massive flats of the ruby berries every winter.

Hyde Park

Historic, tree-lined neighborhood, cobblestone streets and a to-die-for 1920s bungalow, it’s a home and garden buff’s dream and Hyde Park has it all. The rent is a bit pricey in this district, but you’ll understand why quickly. The walkable village stays lively from day to night.
